AVSAPRO systems have been in use worldwide since 2010, being used successfully and satisfactorily by private and government contractors, law enforcement agencies, security industries and airport security in South Africa, USA, China, UK, France, Romania, Russia, India, Ghana, Afghanistan, Qatar, Dubai and elsewhere.

In the USA, SA and other countries, polygraph technologies are utilised by labour courts (CCMA) as mitigating evidence. In SA, the courts have upheld decisions to terminate employment based on “Breakdown in trust between employer and employee” – this precedent has been set. SA courts have determined in circa 1986 that polygraph examinations are not psychometric tests and therefore may be administered by properly trained persons, not necessarily requiring degrees in psychology sciences. The same holds true worldwide.

IN the absence of a magic wand, mankind has no better tool to test the veracity of a persons words or alibis, other than the tried and tested, established DOD (Detection Of Deception) polygraph technologies.


How it works:

Avsapro voice polygraph systems utilize scientifically validated technologies and methodologies.

Human voice response is captured in spectrograph format and inverted wave sign.

The cyclic speed of oscillations is unimportant for AVSAPRO.

In manual voicestress systems, the oscillation speeds are subject to human intervention and analysis (scoring).

AVSAPRO captures a snapshot of each response. The response is automatically tagged (numbered) in correct sequence. Reset questions are automatically re-tagged with original being retained, but un-tagged and disregarded.

AVSAPRO utilizes Neural Network processing technology (Artificial Intelligence). The NN database is loaded with approximately 5000 known-solution, pre-scored voice spectrographs and voice waves (signatures) at time of installation. These signatures are audio tracks extracted from known solution polygraph examinations, where confessions were obtained after examinations produced DI results. The UTAH 7 position scores so assigned were digitized from values 0 – 100. These signatures were blind scored by the developer Clifton Coetzee to achieve a +/- 1% variance when the NN was subjected to laboratory grade testing.

The Final Stress Values (SV) are assigned to each tagged response within 0.025 secs by the NN processor. These SV’s are placed in a yellow square on the wave graphic presentation.

When utilizing SV’s to determine Truth or Deception, a validated methodology is required. AVSAPRO utilizes scientifically proven and peer reviewed question constructs as approved by international polygraph associations.

AVSAPRO does not accept blind accuracy of the validated question constructs. To avoid FALSE POSITIVES (Innocent person called Deceptive) a calculation formula is applied to achieve a bias towards NDI calls (No Deception Indicated) of 3%.

The expectation therefore is that as many as 3% of guilty subjects may pass the Detection Of Deception exam. The variance may be decreased to 2% by increasing the calculation formula from *1.8 to *1.85; and further to a variance of 1% by an increase to *1.8675

Note: The standard formula at time of installation must be set to *1.85.

As humans have been proven to have at best, a 50-55% accuracy rate in determining truthful from deceptive statements, The technologies of polygraph are extremely reliable at 97% accuracy. NB: In favour of a truthful bias.
